NordVPN is the service we recommend first for people in the UAE: 18 UAE servers in two cities, obfuscated servers for networks that block VPNs, and five independent assessments of its no-logs policy, the latest by Deloitte.

In the UAE

NordVPN’s official server list shows 18 servers in the UAE: 14 in Dubai and 4 in Fujairah. Its API marks virtual servers with a flag; none of the UAE servers carries it, and the UAE is not among the 79 virtual locations in NordVPN’s January 2026 list.

Five of the Dubai servers are obfuscated, which means they disguise VPN traffic as ordinary traffic. NordVPN’s UAE page tells UAE users to pick them under Specialty servers. The app is on the UAE App Store (version 9.16.1, released 28 October 2026).

NordVPN’s UAE page answers “Are VPNs illegal in the UAE?” with “Yes”. That is stronger than the law: Article 10 of Decree-Law 34/2021 punishes VPN use to commit or hide a crime. See our legal guide.

Privacy and audits

NordVPN’s no-logs policy has been assessed independently five times; the fifth assessment, by Deloitte Audit Lithuania, had its fieldwork from 18 November to 20 December 2024 (Nord Security). NordVPN says it operates under Panamanian jurisdiction; its parent, Nord Security, is based in the Netherlands.

Apps and devices

Apps for Windows (including ARM laptops), macOS 14 or newer, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android. Ten devices can be connected per account (NordVPN support). Obfuscated servers now run on NordVPN’s NordWhisper protocol.

Free plan, trial and refund

There is no free plan. NordVPN offers a 7-day trial through its app on 1- and 2-year plans, plus a 3-day trial for first-time Android users through Google Play. Its refund policy gives 30 days on a first purchase. We do not quote prices: they change by country and promotion.

What we do not like

No free option at all.
Ten devices may not cover a large household.
Its marketing about UAE law is more alarming than the law itself.

Choose something else if

you want a free plan: Proton VPN;
you have many devices: Surfshark or PIA;
you want the simplest possible app: ExpressVPN.
