Checked 30 October 2026

Proton VPN has the best free plan we found, and its paid plan lists 76 servers in the UAE. It comes from Proton AG, the Swiss company behind Proton Mail.

In the UAE

Proton’s server list shows 76 UAE servers in Dubai and Fujairah, all on paid (Plus) plans. Some of them are Smart Routing servers: Proton lists “United Arab Emirates*: France (Marseille)”, meaning the UAE has both servers in the country and virtual ones that sit in Marseille. The apps mark Smart Routing servers with a globe icon.

Its own UAE page gives a different, lower count (“15+”, all in Dubai), so we use the server list. The app is on the UAE App Store (version 7.5.2, released 8 June 2026).

Privacy and audits

Securitum has audited Proton VPN’s no-logs policy every year from 2022 to 2026 (Proton). Proton says the policy has also been tested in more than 400 legal cases.

Apps and devices

Apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android, Chromebook, browsers and TV platforms; ten devices on Plus (Proton plans). The Stealth protocol disguises VPN traffic and is available on the Free plan too. Proton’s kill switch comes in a standard and an advanced (always on) version.

Free plan, trial and refund

The Free plan has no data cap and no ads, for one device, with servers in 10 countries that Proton chooses for you. It does not include UAE servers. Paid plans have a 30-day refund (pricing).

What we do not like

Free users cannot reach UAE servers or pick a country.
Some UAE servers are virtual, and the apps show it only with an icon.
Its own pages disagree on the number of UAE servers.

Choose something else if

you need many devices: Surfshark;
you want UAE servers that are all in the UAE: NordVPN.

We did not run our own speed or streaming tests; this review is based on the provider’s own documents and the UAE App Store, checked on 30 October 2026.
