Windscribe has a generous free plan and a pay-per-location option, and says it uses no virtual servers at all. Its Dubai servers are for paying users only.
In the UAE
Windscribe lists “UAE – Dubai” among its server locations and says it does not use virtual locations, apart from a joke “Antarctica” location. The free plan’s ten countries do not include the UAE, so Dubai needs Pro or Build-a-Plan. The iPhone app is on the UAE App Store (version 3.15.2, released 28 October 2026).
Privacy and audits
Leviathan Security audited Windscribe’s desktop app in 2021 and its mobile apps in 2022, and Packetlabs audited its server stack in 2024 (Windscribe). These are security audits rather than a no-logs audit. Windscribe Limited is based in Toronto, Canada.
Apps and devices
Apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone, Android, TV platforms, browsers and routers, with no device limit. Its Firewall blocks all traffic outside the tunnel, and Stealth and WStunnel modes help on networks that block VPNs.
Free plan, trial and refund
The free plan gives 10 GB a month with a confirmed email (2 GB without), in ten countries. Build-a-Plan charges per location with a monthly minimum, which can suit someone who only wants a UAE IP address. Refunds are possible within 7 days of the first purchase and only if less than 10 GB was used (refund policy).
What we do not like
- No UAE server on the free plan.
- A short, conditional refund window.
- No independent no-logs audit, only security audits.
Choose something else if
- you want the free plan with no data cap: Proton VPN;
- you want a no-logs audit: NordVPN or Surfshark.
